'Inspirational' Quotes

Do you ever get fed up of inspirational quotes?

Don't get me wrong I love a good quote, I have a whole pinterest board full of them. It's the ones that say "Do what you love, love what you do"

or "If you're not doing what you love you're wasting your time"

Well thanks, thanks a lot. Some people would say that would encourage them to do something about their lives but unfortunately i'm not wired that way. All it does it make me feel guilty for not doing something but I don't even know what that something is!

(If I could put the laughing/crying emoji here I would. )

It just adds to the mountain of anxiety I already have that tells me i'm living my life wrong. I just think we could do without it.

So here's what I have to say.

To all the people out there who have boring jobs,
who haven't been on holiday in 5 years,
who just about managed to get dressed today,
who sat at their computer instead of going outside,

A toast "here's to the simple life".

Have a good day x

A dedication

This post is dedicated to all the people out there just trying to find their way.

I know some days you’re ok but I also know there are some days when you don’t want to get out of bed. I have those days so I can only assume that other people have those days too.

I know what it’s like to wake up and have no idea what you’re doing. I know what it’s like to question yourself every day. I know what it’s like when you feel you’re failing at life.

Every day is just a struggle. A little battle to find something that excites you. To find a purpose.

I know what it feels like to not believe in yourself.

But you’re ok.
You’re absolutely ok.

You keep going because stopping is not an option. There is a light at the end of the tunnel and some days it will feel like the tunnel is never ending. Just don’t stop looking for that light. Even if it’s just a tiny speck – it’s there.
It’s always there.

Just remember you are a badass and you are ok.
You are definately not alone.

Learning to cable

Every autumn I start to eye up all the knitwear trying to find the perfect snuggly snood for when the days start to get cold.

I perv over all the cable knits wishing I could make something myself at home but then I remind myself of a very complicated pattern I once saw and immediately talk myself out of it.

This year I finally got the balls to give it a go. Its really not that complicated at all! I started off with a simple two strand twist which I made out of Wool and the Gang's Crazy Sexy Wool in Sand Trooper Beige.

I knitted up this snood for my cousin as a Birthday present. The wool is so delicious that I also bought it in Margaux Red, Khaki, Midnight Blue and Forest Green.

Honestly it's so dreamy I don't want to use any other wool!

Here is the double plait cable knit snood in Margaux Red.

I used 12mm needles on both and they both knit up ridiculously fast.

I'm currently just finishing up a single plait snood with knitted rows down either side using the forest green. It's a custom order for a friend.

If you would like a custom pattern please get in touch via my Etsy Shop.

Where it all started...

Hello and welcome to It's Cold Outside Knits.

I've started this blog to run alongside my Etsy Shop and Instagram so if you're on either platform please come and say hi!

I always get the knitting bug around this time of year but a few friends of mine suggested I try selling my items on Etsy.

So, if you're looking for a beautful hand made winter warmer head over to my shop and pick something up!
